When it comes to ensuring the safety of an aircraft, one crucial component that is often taken for granted is the aircraft braking system. The brakes on an airplane play a vital role in allowing pilots to control the speed of the vehicle during landing, taxiing, and even while conducting takeoffs. In this article, we will delve into popular aircraft braking systems, discussing how they work to keep passengers safe.
Beginning with the stopwatch, anemometer, and tachometer on the Wright Flyer, aircraft instruments have gone through many significant changes to get to where we are today. A quick look at the modern “glass cockpit” shows how great of an impact that improving technology has had on the systems we use to monitor altitude, air pressure, wind speed, and more. However, at their core, many of these instruments function based on the same working principles as their earliest versions. In this blog, we present some insight into the various types of aircraft instruments you will find in your cockpit, along with some basic information about repair and replacement options for each.
The wings of aircraft feature a number of equipment which improve lift and overall flight conditions, one of them being Gurney flaps. Gurney flaps are the smallest devices on aircraft wings, but not all aircraft feature them, despite the fact they help many models requiring high lift. When in use, these tab-like devices are positioned on the trailing edge of aircraft wings at a 90 degree angle. While the aircraft is in flight, Gurney flaps increase the air pressure on one side of the wing, while the pressure is reduced on the opposite suction side.
When looking to permanently join two or more pieces of metal, you may choose from a collection of welding methods. Depending on certain specifications of the aircraft, the best style of welding will vary. In fact, welding techniques will likely vary across the different parts of an aircraft as well. For aircraft that are used more frequently or have to meet other high-performance standards, stronger and more durable welding methods are required for the safety and proper functionality of aircraft. For your better knowledge, this blog will examine the many factors that influence welding requirements and how one may choose the best method for their applications.
